After $132M investment, global robotics company plants Americas HQ flag in Frisco

A global company with more than $100 million in funding has chosen Frisco for its push with the Americas.


Addverb Technologies, which has its headquarters in India, expanded into North America and South America with North Texas acting as the hub for the organization’s push into this part of the world, according to a statement and Luke Lee, marketing head of Americas.


The company provides automated robots, material handling technologies, integration services and software options. Addverb whose products are designed for warehouse and industrial sites, counts Unilever, Flipkart and Coca-Cola, among its 100-plus customers.


The Frisco site will serve as the Americas headquarters for general operations to support our remote team of engineers, project managers, sales and support staff, Lee said in an emailed response to questions by the Dallas Business Journal.


“It'll be a big step for us establishing a foothold in this region,” Lee said.

Renibus Therapeutics announces new CEO and close of $35 million Series A funding


Southlake-based biotech company Renibus Therapeutics announced on Tuesday that it has completed a $15 million extension as part of its Series A financing, closing the round at $35 million, according to a news release.


The firm also announced Frank Stonebanks as its new CEO.


“Renibus has arrived at a critical inflection point in its commitment to transform the prevention and treatment of kidney diseases, and I see enormous potential in each of the programs,” Stonebanks said in the release. “The closing of our $35 million capital raise will accelerate our momentum across the clinical portfolio.”


Renibus is a clinical-stage biotech company focused on preventing and treating cardiorenal diseases. The release said that the co-founder and former CEO of Al Guillem would transition to executive chairman of its board.

Firm with "Bloomberg Terminal for crypto" product gets $5 million investment on its way to IPO

As a part of its next steps toward going public, cryptocurrency trading platform company Aurox has closed on a $5 million investment.


The investment is the first direct investment the Cross Roads-based company has taken and was led by a series of high-net-worth individuals, according to a news release. The company said the investment would drive marketing and scale users.


The company, which has a product that has been called the "Bloomberg Terminal for crypto," told the Dallas Business Journal at the beginning of February that it has not determined its specific avenue to a public move but is looking to be publicly traded by the end of 2022.

DFW’s Securonix raises more than $1 billion from Vista

Securonix is getting backing of more than $1 billion.


The Addison cybersecurity company said Vista Equity Partners led the “growth investment,” according to a statement.


The deal provides capital, along with expertise, to fuel its expansion while meeting customer demand, it said.


Amid growing threats to businesses around the world, Securonix provides cloud-based security analytics, operations and response platform. Its customers include some of the largest companies in the world, as it saw 100% growth with software-as-a-service annual recurring revenue over the past year.

‘2022 is shaping up to be a year of recovery:’ Sabre CEO sees travel improving after omicron

Sabre CEO Sean Menke likes his view of the future after roughly two years of grappling with COVID-19. 


The leader of the Southlake company that provides software for flights and hotels said metrics are improving as the industry emerges from the challenges of omicron, according to a transcript of his remarks for a call with analysts on Tuesday.  


“We believe 2022 is shaping up to be a year of recovery and progress,” Menke said.  


While sales have hardly recovered to 2019 levels, Sabre Corp. (Nasdaq: SABR) is positioned for a future that’s poised for more folks getting on planes and staying in hotels as it invests in its technology systems.

Waymo, shipping giant C.H. Robinson team to test autonomous trucking along Dallas-Houston route


Waymo LLC and shipping company C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. plan to test the Alphabet Inc. subsidiary's autonomous trucking technology on the Dallas to Houston transportation lane.


The tests will focus on shipments in the Dallas-Houston route, but the idea is to lay the groundwork for an expansion across Minnesota-based C.H. Robinson's network.


“During and really after the pilots, our companies are going to collaborate in a lot of different ways, using both of our teams’ experience, both of our teams’ tech, both of our teams’ data and ultimately working to shape and accelerate the future expansion of AV technology and the benefits that it brings to shippers and carriers," C.H. Robinson's Chief Commercial Officer Chris O’Brien said.

Boston-based growth equity firm PSG and Frisco-based investment fund Blue Star Innovation Partners announced on Monday that they have sold Atlanta-based fintech firm Payrix to Jacksonville-based fintech FIS. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Founded in 2015, Payrix specializes in servicing software as a service companies who want to embed payments into their offerings and enhance the payments experience. Dallas and Austin-based WeInfuse, a consulting and software platform for infusion therapy and medication delivery in the U.S., has acquired Pennsylvania-based RxToolKit, a provider of clinical and safety education tools for medication preparation and administration. RxToolKit provides curated and reviewed clinical resources including drug monographs that provide step-by-step instructions helping to ensure the safety of all medications from preparation to administration. Plano-based NuVinAir Global, which offers a suite of proprietary products that create healthy vehicle interiors, now has a franchise in its backyard, according to a news release. Last week the company the expansion of its franchise program into North Texas. John Patriarca, who has been a franchisee for nearly a decade with European Wax Center, purchased territories in DFW and founded NuVinAir DFW with his brother, Paul Sanchez, and his father, Richard Patriarca. He owns the exclusive rights to the area and will implement the company’s products across the region. Patriarca’s team will support a wide range of enterprise opportunities in the transportation space, including rental-car companies, automotive dealerships, car washes, detail shops, RVs, trucking fleets, mobility companies, and other automotive businesses.

 

Irving-based Vizient, Inc. announced on Tuesday it is accepting applications for its 2022 Innovative Technology Exchange and encouraged suppliers of medical equipment and technology who want to showcase their products to health care decision makers from across the country to participate. The event will take place October 17 in Dallas and the deadline to apply is April 22. Applications can be submitted here.


NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth/KXAS, Telemundo 39/KXTX and the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation is opening its Project Innovation grant challenge in DFW for the fifth consecutive year, beginning February 18 through March 25, with grant funds available totaling $315,000 for up to twelve grant awardees. Grant applications, rules and eligibility disclosures are available online here.
Local nonprofits whose programs are helping to resolve everyday community issues in any of the following four grant categories are highly encouraged to submit a Project Innovation grant application by the March 25 deadline: Community Engagement, Culture of Inclusion, Next Generation Storytellers, and Youth Education and Empowerment.
